The Mitsubishi Electric SLIMDIP-S is a compact Intelligent Power Module (IPM/DIPIPM) developed for low-power 3-phase inverter motor-control applications. It integrates the power switching stage, gate-drive circuitry and multiple protection functions into a compact through-hole power module, reducing the number of external components required in an inverter design.
Mitsubishi Electric specifies the SLIMDIP-S with a 600V collector-emitter voltage rating and ±5A collector-current rating. It is part of the SLIMDIP family of compact inverter modules covering applications such as air conditioners, washing machines, refrigerators, dishwashers, fans and pumps.
The SLIMDIP-S is rated for 600V VCES and ±5A collector current. This makes it suitable for compatible small-capacity inverter and variable-speed motor-control systems.
The module uses a 6-pack power configuration for three-phase inverter operation. Integrating the power devices and associated driver circuitry into one package simplifies inverter PCB design compared with building the complete three-phase bridge from separate power transistors and gate-driver components.
SLIMDIP-S incorporates dedicated drive circuitry for both the P-side and N-side power devices. The P-side includes high-voltage high-speed level-shifting circuitry for driving the high-side switching devices.
The module incorporates several protection features intended to improve inverter reliability. These include control-supply undervoltage protection, N-side short-circuit protection and over-temperature protection.
A fault output is provided for abnormal operating conditions. The module can signal conditions associated with N-side short-circuit protection, N-side control-supply undervoltage and over-temperature protection.
The SLIMDIP-S provides an analog temperature-monitoring output from the low-voltage control IC, allowing the control system to monitor module temperature as part of the inverter's thermal-management strategy.
The control input interface uses Schmitt-trigger receiver circuitry and supports 3V and 5V control logic, helping simplify interfacing with compatible microcontrollers and motor-control electronics.
Mitsubishi Electric specifies an isolation voltage of 2000Vrms for the SLIMDIP-S, providing electrical isolation between the module's internal high-voltage circuitry and its isolated package structure under the specified test conditions.
