The ABB PM582 (Order Code: 1SAP140200R0201) is a CPU processor module from the ABB AC500 programmable logic controller (PLC) family. Designed for industrial automation and machine-control applications, the PM582 provides reliable processing performance, flexible serial communication, local I/O expansion, and diagnostic functions for a wide range of automation systems.
The PM582 provides 512KB of user program memory, making it suitable for medium-scale PLC applications including machine automation, process control, production equipment, material handling systems, and industrial control installations.
The CPU features two configurable RS232/RS485 serial communication interfaces. These interfaces support programming and industrial communication applications such as Modbus master/slave and ASCII communication. COM1 also provides integrated CS31 master functionality for distributed I/O expansion.
The PM582 is designed for deterministic industrial control with minimum instruction execution times of approximately 0.05 µs for bit operations, 0.06 µs for word operations, and 0.5 µs for floating-point operations.
The controller can be expanded with compatible ABB S500/S500-eCo I/O modules and supports external communication modules, allowing the PLC system to be configured for different industrial networks and automation requirements.
An integrated display and function keys provide convenient access to controller status and diagnostic information, helping technicians with commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
